Reliance Jio: After telecom, Reliance Jio has prepared to create a stir in the PC market. Top telecom company Reliance Jio is planning ‘Cloud’ laptop. The company may soon launch a Cloud PC laptop for around Rs 15,000. This will drastically reduce ownership costs.
The Mukesh-Ambani-owned company is in talks with top companies like HP, Acer, Lenovo to bring laptops in the Indian market in a few months. An ET report quoted sources as saying that the laptop will be a “dumb terminal” with all storage and processing on Jio Cloud, which will help reduce costs besides giving users access to all services. The report says that testing is going on on HP Chromebook for Cloud PC.

An official with knowledge of the matter told ET that the price of a laptop depends on its hardware such as memory, processing power, chipset etc. The larger capacity of these hardware increases the cost as well as battery power. We are removing all this. The entire processing of the laptop will be done on the back end in Jio Cloud.
Preparing to launch the laptop for the second time :
The report says that Jio has not yet answered the questions asked in this regard. This is the second time that Jio is bringing a laptop. In July this year, the company launched the 4G-powered JioBook for Rs 16,499. The laptop was based on JioOS operating system. The new laptop will be a cloud PC and is expected to run on other operating systems including Windows.
Many services will come bundled with it as a monthly subscription while customers will have to pay extra for special services. Instead of two-three devices, many people can do it with their personal login. Jio aims to have a bigger presence in the digital services market as the opportunities are huge, especially in the hybrid workplace.
